Our aim was to create a graphic that changed peoples preconception of Theatre through a more radical aesthetic.

The element stems from the 3 x 3 traditional theatre grid that is used by directors to direct the cast when on stage.

This coincided well with Manchester School of Theatre’s projections to showcase 9 different productions for this year. Each one of the rectangular elements relates to each production.

Not only did the graphic have to stand up aesthetically when on it’s own, we also had to carefully consider how it worked when accompanied by photography.

The identity was out across posters, digital screens, programmes and flyers.
